Turkiye’s natural gas imports increased in October

Turkiye’s natural gas imports increased by 3.7% in October compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching approximately 3 billion 358 million 230 thousand cubic meters. The largest natural gas import was from Russia with 1 billion 985 million 990 thousand cubic meters.

According to the “Natural Gas Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for October, approximately 2 billion 833 million 150 thousand cubic meters of imports were made through pipelines and 525 million 90 thousand cubic meters were made through liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

Thus, total natural gas imports increased by 3.7% in this period and reached approximately 3 billion 358 million 230 thousand cubic meters.

While the highest natural gas import was from Russia with 1 billion 985 million 990 thousand cubic meters in October, this country was followed by Azerbaijan with 718 million 910 thousand cubic meters and Algeria with 448 million 980 thousand cubic meters.

During this period, the amount of natural gas imported from Iran was 128 million 250 thousand cubic meters.

Gas consumption in residences decreased by 3%

During the said period, total natural gas consumption in the country increased by 7.9% and reached approximately 3 billion 144 million 270 thousand cubic meters.

Natural gas consumption of the industrial sector was recorded as approximately 1 billion 157 million 160 thousand cubic meters, with an increase of 8.1%. Natural gas consumption in power plants increased by 11.4%, reaching 1 billion 148 million 100 thousand cubic meters.

Natural gas consumption in residences decreased by 3% in this period, reaching 409 million 70 thousand cubic meters.

Natural gas stock amount increased

The amount of natural gas stock in Turkiye increased by 41% in October compared to the same month last year, reaching approximately 5 billion 385 million cubic meters.

Approximately 5 billion 151 million cubic meters of the natural gas stock is in underground storage facilities, and 234 million cubic meters is in LNG terminals.
