ASKON Chairman Orhan Aydin: In 2022, our exports with Egypt reached $4.5 billion

Orhan Aydin, Chairman of the Anatolian Lions Businessmen Association (ASKON), stated that in 2022, trade with Egypt gave a surplus of $2 billion in favor of Turkiye.

According to the statement made by ASKON, ASKON Chairman Orhan Aydin evaluated the meeting held with the Egyptian Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmet Samir Saleh upon the invitation of the Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat.

Aydin, whose views were included in the statement, stated that both wings left this meeting, which took place after 10 years on behalf of the business world, very satisfied, that trade in their own currencies is very important and that they need to reach residence visas quickly.

Stating that exports to Egypt in 2022 increased by 0.8% compared to the previous year, it was $4.5 billion, Aydin said:

“Trade with Egypt gave a surplus of $2 billion in favor of Turkiye in 2022. Iron and steel machinery, mechanical devices and tools, mineral fuels, oils, iron or steel goods, motor vehicles, plastics and their products, inorganic chemicals, jewelery items are our main export products.

We predicted the potential that our commercial size, which approached $10 billion last year, could reach $20 billion. Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Samir Saleh, stated that they are ready to provide support in all matters.

The meeting was very productive. I am of the opinion that we can achieve the targeted commercial volume by moving quickly. On behalf of the business world, I would like to thank our Minister of Trade, Omer Bolat, for this meeting held after 10 years.”
