Turkiye aims to carry 231 Million passengers by air in 2024

Number of passengers traveling through Turkish airspace to reach 239.5M by 2025, according to Turkish airport authority

Türkiye’s target for the number of passengers using air travel this year has been upwardly revised to 230.8 million from a previous target of 222.2 million.

The number of air passengers, including direct transit passengers, is expected to jump 7.7% from 214.2 million in 2023 to 230.8 million in 2024, according to recently revised data from the State Airports Authority Directorate (DHMI) as compiled by Anadolu.

In 2025, the figure is expected to reach 239.5 million.

Domestic passenger number to see largest rise

The number of domestic passengers is expected to leap to 101.7 million this year,up 11.8% from 91 million in 2023.

The data shows that the figure is expected to reach 106.2 million in 2025.

The number of international passengers, which hit 122.9 million last year, will soar 4.6% to 128.6 million in 2024, according to projections.

In 2025, the figure is expected to reach 132.8 million.

Air traffic set to rise

Air traffic in Türkiye saw 2.1 million aircraft last year, including overflights, and it is expected to rise to 2.3 million in 2024.

The figure is predicted to jump to 2.4 million in 2025, according to the data.

Domestic air traffic is expected to see 947,800 aircraft in 2024, while international airplane traffic will climb to 859,100.

The number of overpasses was at 485,200 last year, and is expected to rise to 524,600 this year and 534,900 next year.

Cargo moving at airports across Türkiye reached 4.2 million tons last year, but this year, the figure is expected to be at 4.1 million tons, while in 2025, the number is estimated to rise again to 4.2 million tons.
