Eksim Holding Prevents 2.5 Million Tons of Carbon Emissions with Renewable Energy

Eksim Holding Vice Chairman Osman Arıoğlu stated that they produced approximately 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of energy from renewable energy sources in 2023, saying, “We prevented 2.5 million tons of carbon emissions in 2 years with renewable energy sources.”

Arıoğlu answered questions from an AA correspondent at the Uludağ Economic Summit held in Sapanca district of Sakarya.

Stating that renewable energy and environmental friendliness lie at the core of their business, Arıoğlu said that their investments largely consist of wind, hydro, and solar energy.

Arıoğlu explained that a 150-megawatt solar energy investment is ongoing in Şanlıurfa, emphasizing that they will provide an additional capacity of approximately 200-300 megawatts by 2024-2025.

“We produced approximately 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of energy from renewable energy sources last year. We prevented 2.5 million tons of carbon emissions in 2 years with renewable energy sources. With the commissioning of our new investments in the coming years, we will make significant contributions to erasing the carbon footprint,” Arıoğlu said.

“We prevented an energy loss exceeding 165 billion liras” Arıoğlu mentioned that they serve in 6 provinces of the Southeastern Anatolia Region with Dicle Elektrik, stating, “With a sustainable investment philosophy in our region, we invested 1 billion dollars over 10 years. As a result of our struggle against energy losses, we prevented an energy loss exceeding 165 billion liras at today’s value. This year, we will realize an investment of over 10 billion liras in our region.”

Arıoğlu emphasized their focus on recycling and waste prevention, saying, “We recycled around 250,000 tons of scrap iron in our projects on the Dicle side. Thus, we are also preventing waste. This is the right of future generations.”

Highlighting the importance of renewable energy in the economy, Arıoğlu commented, “Energy is the most critical issue in terms of our current account deficit for Turkey. We are at a point where we contribute to reducing the current account deficit caused by energy.”
