Turkiye Sets Record with 78.5% Renewable Energy in Daily Electricity Production

78.5% of Turkiye’s daily electricity production on April 12 was met by renewable energy sources.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, in his statement on his social media account, stated that record production in renewable energy was reached.

Bayraktar noted that on April 12, 78.5% of Turkiye’s daily electricity production was provided by renewable energy sources.

24.5% of daily electricity production was provided by dams, 20.9% by wind and 12.8% by river sources, 11.3% was provided by solar, 4.7% by geothermal, 3.9% by biomass and 0.4% by waste heat sources.

“We will commission 3.5 GW solar and 1.5 GW wind power plants every year”

Stating that they will commission 3.5 GW solar and 1.5 GW wind power plants every year for the next 12 years, Bayraktar said that their target for 2035 is to increase the share of renewable energy in production to 55%.
