Turkish banking sector’s loan volume was ₺7 trillion 908 billion last week

The credit volume of the banking sector increased by ₺21 billion 270 million last week and reached ₺7 trillion 908 billion 192 million.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the loan volume of the sector increased by ₺21 billion 270 million as of February 17. In the said period, the total loan volume increased from ₺7 trillion 886 billion 922 million to ₺7 trillion 908 billion 192 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺61 billion 572 million last week. The total deposits of the banking sector, which increased by 0.7% in the week in question, became ₺9 trillion 378 billion 864 million.

Consumer loans exceeded ₺1 trillion 140 billion

According to the data, the amount of consumer loans increased by ₺1 billion 626 million as of February 17 to ₺1 trillion 140 billion 791 million. ₺366 billion 220 million of the said loans consisted of housing loans, ₺55 billion 52 million for vehicles, and ₺719 billion 519 million for consumer loans.

In the said period, the amount of installment commercial loans decreased by ₺1 billion 161 million to ₺980 billion 353 million. Banks’ personal credit card receivables decreased by 1.6% to ₺488 billion 132 million. ₺249 billion 378 million of personal credit card receivables were in installments and ₺238 billion 754 million were without installments.

Legal equity increased

According to the weekly data of the BRSA, non-performing loans in the banking sector decreased by ₺275 million compared to the previous week as of February 17, and regressed to ₺161 billion 102 million. A special provision has been set aside for ₺140 billion 398 million of the aforementioned non-performing loans.

In the same period, legal equities of the banking system increased by ₺2 billion 150 million and reached ₺1 trillion 740 billion 335 million.
