Tea exports increased by 22% in 8 months

Tea exports from Turkiye in the January-August period increased by 22% and reached $18 million 493 thousand.

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said that 3 thousand 832 tons of tea were exported from the country in 8 months.

Emphasizing that $18 million 493 thousand of income was obtained from the said foreign sales, Gurdogan stated that exports increased by 22% in value compared to the same period of the previous year.

Gurdogan stated that Belgium, the USA and the United Kingdom are the countries where the most tea is sold.

Noting that Turkish tea was sold to 110 countries, autonomous and free zones in 8 months, Gurdogan stated that 43% of the country’s exports were made from Rize.

Stating that tea was exported to 31 countries, autonomous and free zones from Rize in the January-August period, Gurdogan said, “$7 million 985 thousand 147 of income was obtained from 2 thousand 472 tons of tea exports from Rize. In the same period last year, $5 million 715 thousand 232 of income was obtained from 2 thousand 206 tons of tea exports. Exports from Rize increased by 12% in quantity and 40% in value.”
