ASELSAN will establish “ASELSAN Malatya”, which is planned to be a design and logistics base in Kahramanmaras-centered Malatya, which was affected by the earthquakes on February 6.

According to the statement made by the Metropolitan Municipality, ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol visited the Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selahattin Gurkan.

ASELSAN General Manager Akyol, whose views were included in the statement, stated that they will make a significant investment in Malatya, under the directive of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries.

Akyol stated that the main field of activity of the base to be established will be production, design and logistics.

Explaining that they will quickly implement the first phase of the project and that they are carrying out feasibility studies for a sustainable, developable and long-term investment in Malatya, Akyol said:

“With the new feasibilities we have created recently, we have created an investment that will appeal to the region. We have come to the point of starting work as soon as possible with the meetings we have held in the past days. We shaped our decision to start the work in our meeting with our President of Defense Industries, Prof. Dr. Haluk Gorgun, last week. Today, we came to see the work done in Malatya. Malatya is also the headquarters of the 2nd Army Command. We planned in the long term to make ASELSAN an important part of production in the region and to bring it to a position that includes many functions, including design and logistics base.”

Stating that they aim to start activities in a short time, Akyol explained that they looked at alternative places and determined the first place to start.

Akyol said that they will bring a worthy investment to the country and Malatya, adding that ASELSAN produces with very high technology.

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Gurkan also explained that they have been continuing the exchange of views and consultations regarding ASELSAN’s investments in Malatya for a long time.

Mentioning that this investment will be a locomotive in the city affected by earthquakes, Gurkan stated that they have allocated a section of 5 thousand square meters within the Organized Industrial Zone as a closed factory area.
