BIST 100 Index Sets Record by Surpassing 10,000 Points

The BIST 100 index surged by more than 0.8%, led by transportation stocks, reaching a record level of 10,008.02 points.

After hitting the record level of 10,008.02 points, the BIST 100 index stabilized within the range of 9,995-10,000 points.

Analysts noted that the steps taken by the economic management were positively received by the markets.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, in his evaluation posted on social media yesterday, emphasized that the increasing confidence and predictability in the Turkish economy have positively affected external financing, stating, “While there was a net portfolio outflow of $2.9 billion in the first 5 months of 2023, there was a net portfolio inflow of $16.8 billion in the period from June 2023 to February 2024.”

Meanwhile, yesterday, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced discussions with the US energy company Exxon Mobil for approximately $1.1 billion worth of 2.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Analysts noted that technically, the BIST 100 index has resistance levels at 10,000 and 10,100 points, with support levels at 9,900 and 9,800 points.
