Turkiye’s exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 300% in 9 months

Ahmet Gulec, Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), announced that exports to Saudi Arabia in 9 months this year exceeded $1.8 billion, an increase of approximately 300% compared to the same period last year.

The “Saudi Arabia General Procurement Delegation” program, organized under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce and in cooperation with TIM and the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD), was held in Istanbul.

In his speech at the event, TIM Deputy Chairman Ahmet Gulec pointed out that Turkiye and Saudi Arabia are two important actors in their geography. Gulec stated that they are working to increase commercial relations between the two countries to the maximum level within the framework of the “win-win” principle.

“There is also a significant increase in the number of companies exporting to Saudi Arabia”

Emphasizing that the ties between the two countries are getting stronger despite the problems experienced from time to time, Gulec said, “In parallel with the development of political relations between our countries, we have achieved a serious increasing trend in our exports. This year, our 9-month exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded $1.8 billion, an increase of approximately 300% compared to the same period last year. There is also a significant increase in the number of companies exporting to Saudi Arabia. While 3 thousand 560 of our companies exported to Saudi Arabia in all of 2022, the number exceeded 5 thousand 600 in the 9 months of this year. I know that there is a potential to further expand the trade volume between our countries, which is currently at $6 billion. As we saw once again in today’s meeting, there is a strong will on both sides to activate this potential.”

“We will take 1000 of our business people to Saudi Arabia in January”

MUSIAD International Business Forum Vice President Gazi Misirli also stated that they will host a new delegation of 50 people from Saudi Arabia in Istanbul in the near future. Misirli said, “Also, on January 14, 2024, we will hold the 28th International Business Forum in Saudi Arabia, hosted by MUSIAD, with the participation of our Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat and Saudi Arabian Minister of Commerce Macid bin Abdullah Al Kasabi. We expect almost the same number of participants from Saudi Arabia to attend the organization where we aim to bring 1000 business people from Turkiye.”
