Istanbul had the lion’s share in exports, Mus had the highest increase

In the first half of the year, Istanbul made the highest export with $47.5 billion, while Mus was the province that increased its exports the most with 310%.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye’s exports decreased by 1.8% in the first half of the year compared to the same period of 2022 and decreased to $123 billion 377 million.

In the January-June period, exports on the basis of provinces (excluding exports from free zones) decreased by 5.44% to $107 billion 801 million.

In the first half, the highest export was made from Istanbul with $47 billion 474 million, while the megacity received a 44% share from the exports made on the basis of provinces.

Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with $9 billion, Bursa with $8.1 billion, Izmir with $7.1 billion, Ankara with 5.7 billion and Gaziantep with $4.6 billion. Other provinces in the top 10 were Sakarya with $2.8 billion, Manisa with $2.6 billion, Denizli with $2.1 billion and Konya with $1.6 billion.

Bayburt with $13,2 thousand, Kars with $746.6 thousand and Tunceli with $1 million made the least exports.

15 provinces exceeded $1 billion in exports

While only Istanbul reached the double-digit export figure in the first half, 15 provinces exceeded the $1 billion limit in exports.

6 provinces exported $999-500 million, 26 provinces $499-100 million, 25 provinces $99-10 million, and 9 provinces less than $9.9 million.

Mus took the lead, 26 provinces increased their exports

In the first half of this year, while 26 provinces increased their exports, 55 provinces experienced a decrease.

The province that increased its exports the most on a rate basis was Mus with 310%. Mus’s exports rose from $716,000 to $2.93 million.

Mus was followed by Tunceli with a 207% increase ($1 million 36 thousand), Trabzon with a 23% increase ($596.4 million), and Sinop with a 23% increase ($17.6 million).

The rate of increase was 19% in Canakkale, 14% in Balikesir, 13% in Mugla, 12% in Eskisehir, 11% in Kirklareli and Artvin, and 10% in Tekirdag and Adiyaman.

The exports of Adıyaman and Sanliurfa, which are among the 11 provinces affected by the Kahramanmaras-centered earthquakes, increased in the first half.

The provinces whose exports decreased the most in the first half were Bayburt with 76%, Kirikkale with 71%, Yozgat with 69%, Osmaniye and Bingol with 58%.
