Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Ankara Resad Mammadov stated that companies from Turkiye show interest in renewable energy projects in the country.

Mammadov evaluated the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkiye in the field of renewable energy to the AA correspondent.

Emphasizing that Azerbaijan is one of the countries with high potential in terms of renewable energy resources, Mammadov said, “Our country’s potential for economically viable and technically usable renewable energy resources is evaluated as 27 thousand megawatts, of which 3,000 megawatts of wind, 23 thousand megawatts of solar, 380 megawatts of bioenergy and 520 megawatts of rivers.”

It is aimed to establish renewable energy power plants in Karabakh

Noting that the Renewable Energy Resources State Agency affiliated to the Ministry of Energy was established in Azerbaijan in September 2020, Mammadov reminded that in May 2021, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of a “Green Energy Zone” in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Mammadov noted that in this context, studies are carried out with the aim of learning the potential of solar, wind, biomass, thermal, geothermal and other renewable energy sources in the said regions and establishing energy supply by establishing facilities for renewable resources.
