Accordingly, the number of cattle decreased by 5.6% in 2022 compared to the previous year and fell to 17 million 24 thousand. In this period, the number of cattle decreased by 5.6% to 16 million 852 thousand, and the number of buffaloes decreased by 7.4% to 171 thousand 835.
The number of sheep and goats decreased by 2.2% in 2022 compared to the previous year and was calculated as 56 million 266 thousand. In this period, the number of sheep decreased by 1.1% to 44 million 688 thousand, while the number of goats decreased by 6.2% to 11 million 578 thousand.
Wool, hair, mohair and wet silk cocoon production decreased, honey production increased
In 2022, fleece production decreased by 1.2% on an annual basis to 84 thousand 885 tons, hair production decreased by 4.6% to 6 thousand 393 tons, and mohair production decreased by 10.9% to 417 tons.
Honey production increased by 22.8% as of these periods and became 118 thousand 297 tons.
The number of villages engaged in silkworm breeding decreased by 15.9% in 2022 compared to the previous year and decreased to 559. The number of households engaged in silkworm breeding decreased by 12.9% and was recorded as 1761.
The number of opened seed boxes was recorded as 5,577 with a decrease of 7.5% compared to 2021 last year. In the same period, the production of wet silk cocoons decreased by 10% to 69 tons.
