Introduction numbers will be given to maritime vehicles

The “Regulation on the Allocation, Use, and Registration of Unique Manufacturer Codes within the Scope of the Regulation on Recreational Boats and Personal Watercraft” prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

With the Regulation, rules have been established regarding the allocation, use, and registration of introduction numbers to maritime vehicles produced within the scope of the “Regulation on Recreational Boats and Personal Watercraft,” as well as the unique manufacturer codes included in these numbers.

Accordingly, the introduction number of a maritime vehicle must include the country code of the manufacturer, the production month and year of the maritime vehicle, and the model year corresponding to the year in which the maritime vehicle is intended to be introduced to the market.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Directorate General of Shipyards and Coastal Structures (Administration) will be responsible for the allocation of the unique manufacturer code. The Administration will notify the European Commission through the Ministry of Trade regarding the allocation of the unique manufacturer code.

Before introducing the maritime vehicle to the market, the manufacturer must apply to the Administration for the allocation of the unique manufacturer code, in Turkish if located in Turkey, or in another language accepted by the Administration if not located in Turkey.

The Administration will carry out the national registration of the unique manufacturer codes it has provided. These codes will be transmitted to the European Union (EU) registration platform for access by EU member states. If the Administration allocates a unique manufacturer code to a manufacturer located in third countries, it will report this to the cooperation platform for third countries.

As part of the allocation process for unique manufacturer codes, a service fee of 100,000 Turkish Lira will be deposited into the account of the Directorate General of Revolving Funds of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.”
