Turkish Airlines (THY) stated that after ensuring flight safety and obtaining the necessary permits, the preparations for the evacuation flight are continuing in order to bring the Turkish citizens staying in Ukraine back to the country.

In a statement made by the THY Press Office, regarding the flights from this country after Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, “The news and shares that our partnership does not meet the demand for Ukraine flights and that the ticket prices are above normal values do not reflect the truth.”

In the statement, it was emphasized that the prices of the tickets offered for sale for more than 300 flight destinations around the world are determined by the supply-demand balance and this practice is maintained even in times of extraordinary conditions.

“Screenshots of high-numbered flight tickets in the posts show the fees for connecting trips consisting of 2 or more flight tickets. Economy class fares of Turkish Airlines between 16-23 February for Ukraine-Istanbul flights vary between $79 and $595 for one way and between $129 and $952 for round trips.

As THY, which values the satisfaction of its guests at every stage of the journey, we inform the public that the news shared does not reflect the truth. As Turkish Airlines, we organize flights to 6 destinations in Ukraine: Kiev, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odessa, Zaporizhia and Kherson. According to the first NOTAM published by our Incorporation as of February 24, 2022 at 04:56, Turkey time, flights cannot be executed due to the closure of the Ukrainian airspace.”
