Service exports of $8.7 billion from THY in 2021

Turkish Airlines (THY) realized $8.7 billion worth of service exports in 2021.

According to the statement made by THY Press Office, THY was deemed worthy of the “Service Exports Special Award” at the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and the Champions of Export Award Ceremony, which was held yesterday at the Halic Congress Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The flag carrier airline, which started to rise again in 2021, when the effects of the epidemic in the global aviation industry continued, increased its exports by 66.3% compared to 2020 and realized a service export of $8.7 billion.

With this success, Turkish Airlines ranked first in the “Turkiye’s Top 1000 Exporters 2021” research.

According to the research carried out by TİM, the total exports in 2021 reached $225 billion 220 million with an increase of 32.8% compared to the previous year.

65% of the companies in the top thousand consisted of producer-exporter companies. The research, which is based on the observation of the annual performances of the largest export organizations and the results of the analyzes, also revealed how the development of exports gained momentum.

THY Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat received the award from President Erdogan.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Bolat stated that while waving the Turkish flag in the sky, they carry great pride and responsibility on their wings.

Emphasizing that with this responsibility, they are working to help Turkiye reach its future goals as quickly as possible, Bolat said, “We increase our contribution to our economy every year. Thanks to our crisis management success as the flag carrier, we completed 2021 with a performance that our industry envy. Today, we are happy to receive the award for this achievement. We will continue to spread wings, to rise and to contribute to this vision towards the goal of ‘becoming one of the 10 largest economies in the world’ pointed out by our President.
