The official reserve assets of the CBRT reached $128.7 billion in December 2022

The official reserve assets of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) increased by 5.2% in December 2022 compared to the previous month and rose to $128.7 billion.

The CBRT released the “International Reserves and FX Liquidity Developments” data for the period of December 2022.

Accordingly, official reserve assets increased by 5.2% in December compared to the previous month and rose to $128.7 billion. In the same period, foreign exchange assets increased by 4.8% to $75.4 billion, and gold reserve assets increased by 6.6% to $45.8 billion.

The predetermined foreign exchange outflows of the Central Government and the Central Bank (liability arising from foreign currency loans, securities and deposit transactions) with a maturity of 1 year or less increased by 7.9% compared to the previous month and amounted to $31.4 billion. Of this amount, $25.0 billion consisted of principal and $6.4 billion of interest.

In the same period, the net foreign exchange and gold liabilities of the Central Bank arising from financial derivative transactions with domestic and foreign banks amounted to approximately $71.0 billion, while $36.3 billion of this amount was recorded as one-month maturity.

Conditional foreign currency outflows consisted of Treasury-guaranteed foreign debts to be paid within 1 year and other liabilities (required reserves blocked account in foreign currency and gold, and letters of credit). The said liabilities decreased by 2.2% compared to the previous month and decreased to $54.4 billion.
