Russian Sovcombank lends $300M to Rosatom for for Turkish Akkuyu Nuclear power plant

Sovcombank, one of Russia’s largest private banks, provided a $300 million loan to the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) for the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

In the statement made by Sovcombank, it was stated that the loan provided to Rosatom for the construction of Akkuyu NPP is a 7-year maturity loan.

Dmitriy Gusev, Chairman of the Board of Sovcombank, whose views were given in the statement, stated that they support projects with environmental sensitivity and said, “This loan provided for Akkuyu NPP is a step in line with our goals.”

An inter-governmental agreement on the construction of the Akkuyu NPP was signed in 2010 between Russia and Turkey.

The first unit of the power plant, which will consist of 4 reactors with a total installed power of 4 thousand 800 megawatts, is aimed to be commissioned in 2023.
