51.8% of the automobiles produced by Turkiye in the 8 months of the year were manufactured in the industrial city of Bursa.
According to the AA correspondent’s compilation of Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) data, the total automotive production of association member companies in January-August 2023 was recorded as 981 thousand 897 units, including tractors.
The automobile production of association member companies in the 8-month period amounted to 599 thousand 915, an increase of 20.9% compared to the same period last year.
The biggest contribution to Turkiye’s automobile production in the January-August period was made by Bursa, where the factories of automotive companies OYAK Renault, TOFAS and Karsan are located.
Companies in Bursa achieved 51.8% of Turkiye’s total automobile production with the production of 310 thousand 889 units in this period. Bursa’s daily automobile production was 1295 on average.
While the OYAK Renault factory in the city ranks first in the country with the production of 203 thousand 903 automobiles, TOFAS ranks 4th with the production of 106 thousand 986 units.
Hyundai Assan in Kocaeli ranked second with 155 thousand 526 cars, and Toyota operating in Sakarya ranked third by manufacturing 132 thousand 130 cars.
Ford Otosan’s automobile production was recorded as 1370 in the January-August period.
OYAK Renault is also at the top in exports
Turkiye’s automobile exports increased from 339 thousand 401 to 425 thousand 934, with an increase of 25.5% compared to the first 8 months of last year.
In the January-August period, OYAK Renault made the most automobile exports with 146 thousand 966 vehicles.
Second place Hyundai Assan exported 132 thousand 762 cars, third Toyota 123 thousand 655, fourth TOFAS 22 thousand 551 cars.
While 54.5% of the production in Bursa was sent abroad, the contribution of OYAK Renault and TOFAS to Turkiye’s total automobile exports was 39.74%.
Bursa’s daily foreign sales number was approximately 706.
