Rize-Artvin Airport is waiting to be opened at the end of 2021

Rize-Artvin Airport, which has 97 million tons of the 100 million tons of filling planned in its infrastructure, is waiting to be opened at the end of the year. While 400 trucks carry filling material every day at Rize-Artvin Airport, which will have a length of 3 thousand meters and a width of 45 meters, at the same time, 2 ships whose lower parts can be opened according to the filling, thus performing the filling with point shots, are working 24 hours a day.

The construction works of the Rize-Artvin Airport project, which will be the second airport built on the sea in Turkey and the Black Sea Region, after the Ordu-Giresun Airport built on the sea fill, continue without slowing down on a 24-hour basis.

While 97 million tons of filling was completed in the Rize-Artvin Airport project, which is of great importance for the Eastern Black Sea region and where 100 million tons of filling will take place, the runway, terminal buildings and the entrance tag tower, which will be in the form of a tea leaf, began to take shape.

Rize Governor Kemal Ceber, who stated that the airport filling was 97% complete and the superstructure 47.5% completed, said, “As of today, 97% completion has been achieved in terms of percent filling at the airport.

In other words, 97 million tons of 100 million tons of filling is finished. Together with other infrastructure works, our total infrastructure level has reached 94.5% and 47.5% in superstructure. It goes on fast. Our goal is to land the first plane at our airport, which has been completed at the end of this year.”

Underlining that it is difficult to invest in Rize due to weather and geographical conditions, Governor Ceber said, “We had a rainy season for 45 days, some of which were disasters.

Apart from that, we have some difficulties. Investing in Rize is really difficult. It is very difficult due to the climate, geographical conditions. We aim to have opened and landed the first plane by the end of the year, if there is no difficulty in the condition that will prevent us.”
