According to the AA correspondent’s compilation from Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (EBSEA) data, 7 thousand 345 tons of ready-to-wear and apparel products were sold to 41 countries from the Eastern Black Sea in the January-November period of 2020.
$12 million 680 thousand 699 revenue was obtained from the said foreign sales.
In the same period of the last year, a profit of $6 million 297 thousand 569 was obtained from the export of 2 thousand 13 tons of ready-to-wear and apparel. Thus, exports increased by 265% in amount and 100% in value compared to the same period of 2019.
Most exports were made to the Netherlands
The Netherlands, Germany and Italy were the most exported countries in this period.
In the period of January-November 2020, ready-made clothing and apparel products were exported to the Netherlands with a value of $4 million 307 thousand 390, Germany with $2 million 239 thousand 760 and Italy with $1 million 304 thousand 336.
Ready-to-wear and apparel products were also sent to Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan, Senegal, Ghana, Congo, Uganda, USA, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Czechia, Russia, which were not exported in 2019.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), EBSEA Board Chairman Saffet Kalyoncu said that exports of ready-to-wear and apparel products from the Eastern Black Sea region are increasing year by year.
Kalyoncu stated that ready-to-wear and apparel products are among the favorite sectors of the country and make a great contribution to employment, and continued as follows:
“It is a great success that the production and export of the ready-to-wear and apparel product industry started to sprout in our region and became an important sector in our exports. The fact that our 2 manufacturing companies, which are also operating in Trabzon, bring their products to an important position in the Dutch market and have created their own brands in the Dutch market and our company, which manufactures medical apparel products established in Rize, exports medical disposable masks and medical protective gowns, overalls to 11 countries, including the People’s Republic of China, under its own brand is an admirable achievement.”
