Otokar aims to increase its exports to Africa

Otokar General Manager Serdar Gorguc said, “We want to improve our existing relations and evaluate new cooperation opportunities in the region during the AAD Fair.”

One of the Koc Group companies, Turkiye’s global land systems manufacturer Otokar continues to successfully represent Turkiye in different geographies in the field of defense industry.

According to the statement made by Otokar, the company will participate in the AAD 2022 defense industry fair, which will be held in Tshwane, South Africa on September 21-25. During the 5-day event, Otokar will introduce its wide product range of world-famous armored vehicles as well as its superior capabilities in land systems.

Otokar General Manager Serdar Gorguc, whose views are included in the statement, noted that Otokar’s military vehicles actively serve in 5 continents in very different regions and climatic conditions.

Gorguc stated that they reflect the experiences they have gained in Turkiye and various regions of the world to their vehicle development studies, and said, “Thanks to our engineering power, design ability and superiority in technology, we make a difference with our military vehicles and wide product range that we develop and produce for today’s and future threats. Our military vehicles with different models and features such as 4×4, 8×8 are currently in service in different regions of Africa. In international competition, the areas where we differ the most and stand out apart from the product are our integrated logistics support systems and delivery times. In any case, we stand by our users even after the sale. The uninterrupted support we have provided in the challenging conditions of Africa in the past has always taken us one step ahead. During the AAD Fair, we want to improve our existing relations and evaluate new cooperation opportunities in the region. In this way, we aim to contribute more to our country’s exports.”

Emphasizing that the COBRA II vehicle in particular draws attention with its successful performance in the African region, Gorguc said:

“Our COBRA II vehicle, which is considered one of the world’s leading vehicles in its class, is a vehicle that has proven itself by being used in various operations in Africa. It has also demonstrated its effectiveness in asymmetrical combat conditions. Our vehicle is currently widely used in African Union and United Nations peacekeeping operations in the region. Besides all this, COBRA II successfully serves more than 10 end users worldwide. The satisfaction of our current users with the performance of our tool is also a reference for new users. All this makes us extremely proud. We think that our ARMA 6×6 and ARMA 8×8 vehicles will be preferred by many users in the region, in addition to the COBRA II, in the coming years.”

According to the information given, the COBRA II stands out with its high protection, carrying capacity and large interior volume. In addition to its superior mobility, the COBRA II, which has the capacity to carry 10 personnel including the commander and the driver, offers a high level of security thanks to its superior protection against ballistic, mine and IED threats. Providing high performance in the most challenging terrain and climatic conditions, COBRA II is optionally produced in amphibious type and perfectly adapts to different tasks required.

COBRA II, which is especially preferred thanks to its wide weapon integration and mission hardware equipment options, successfully carries out many missions in Turkiye and export markets, including border protection, internal security and peacekeeping operations. COBRA II can also act as a personnel carrier, weapon platform, land surveillance radar, CBRN reconnaissance vehicle, command control vehicle and ambulance thanks to its modular structure.
