The foundation of Filyos Natural Gas Operation Facility, Turkey’s century-old project, was laid today in Zonguldak with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The facility, where the natural gas discovered in the Black Sea will land, will be Turkey’s new energy base.

FIRST POINT OF NATURAL GAS LANDING
Filyos Natural Gas Operation Facility, which is the first point where natural gas discovered in the Black Sea will land, will be the first point for natural gas to spread to Turkey. Black Sea gas will spread from Filyos to Turkey.
IT WILL BE TURKEY’S NEW ENERGY BASE
President Erdogan received information about the works by making a live connection from the field to the Kanuni drilling ship. Fatih Donmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, accompanied Erdogan. Filyos Natural Gas Operation Facility, Turkey’s century-old project, will be Turkey’s new energy base.
At the facility, which is approximately 25 kilometers from the center of Zonguldak, the water and liquids in the produced gas will be separated, the particles will be filtered, the gas will be pressurized and sent to the network.
Domestic and especially local resources will be given priority for the employment and purchasing needs that will arise during the construction and operation processes of the land facility.
IT WILL BE TURKEY’S THIRD BIGGEST PORT
On the other hand, the Uzun Mehmet Mosque and the Filyos Port, where the Black Sea natural gas, which is Turkey’s third-largest port, will be landed, feverish works were carried out in the city.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the opening of the Uzun Mehmet Mosque in Zonguldak, the construction of which was started and completed in 2019, and the Filyos Port, the 3rd largest port in Turkey, the construction of which began in 2016.

President Erdogan’s coming to the city caused excitement. Erdogan, who first performed the Friday prayer at the Uzun Mehmet Mosque, which has a capacity of 6,000 people, opened the mosque.

President Erdogan, in his speech here, announced that Fatih Drilling Ship has made a new natural gas discovery of 135 billion cubic meters in the Amasra -1 well in the Sakarya gas field.
