Direct flights to Malaysia start from Sabiha Gokcen Airport

Kuala Lumpur-based flights, operated by Malaysian airline Batik Air, will be the longest-range flight route of both Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and Batik Air to date.

According to the statement of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG), Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG), Turkiye’s second largest airport, continues to expand its global network with its new line based in Kuala Lumpur.

Arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), opportunities to explore Malaysia and beyond, which hosts various ethnicities, languages and religions, are now possible with a direct flight from Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Batik Air Malaysia will operate Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) – Kuala Lumpur flights four times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, starting from February 10, 2024.

This collaboration, which offers the opportunity to connect the furthest destination for Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and Batik Air, will connect Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur with a direct flight of 10 hours and 50 minutes. Transfers can also be made to popular destinations such as Jakarta, Bali, Singapore, Bangkok and Phuket via Kuala Lumpur, the pearl of Asia, the cultural and financial capital. Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, which serves 163 destinations in 54 countries with its new route Kuala Lumpur and has become the center of economical airline operations with its collaborations, increases its connectivity in the global aviation world with its collaboration with Batik Air, which operates 800 weekly flights to 50 destinations in 22 countries.

In his written statement regarding the decision to choose Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) as the gateway, Batik Air Group Strategy Director Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy stated that they decided to create a route connecting two important centers at both ends. Muthy said, “While Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen connects to Europe, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) connects to Southeast Asia, East Asia and Australia, offering significant advantages for both business and leisure travel.”
