26 thousand 631 tons of Turkish salmon were produced in Sinop in 2023

In Sinop, one of Turkiye’s important fishing centers, 26 thousand 631 tons of Turkish salmon were produced in 11 facilities in 2023.

According to the data of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Sinop, which is one of the rare natural harbors of the Black Sea, meets 35% of the country’s Turkish salmon production.

In the city, where Turkish salmon has been produced in the facilities since 2017, trout and mussels are also produced.

In Sinop, 26 thousand 631 tons of Turkish salmon, 26 tons of trout and 127 tons of mussels were produced in 2023.

$88 million 755 thousand 842 of income was provided to the country’s economy from 13 thousand 382 tons of Turkish salmon exported to Russia, Japan and European countries.

“Sinop is rapidly progressing towards becoming a center in our country”

Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Fatih Onlem said that Sinop ranks first in Turkiye in Turkish salmon production.

Emphasizing that production continues in 11 facilities in the city, Onlem said, “Our city has always been close to the sea and has a reputation as a city clinging to water, as it is one of the rare natural harbors of the Black Sea due to its geographical features. Our province meets 35% of our country’s Turkish salmon production. With the facilities established since 2017, Sinop is rapidly progressing towards becoming a center in our country for the cultivation of trout, which is registered as Turkish salmon.”
