Turkiye’s Sabanci Holding said on Monday that Enerjisa Uretim, its joint venture with Germany’s E.on SE is proceeding with efforts to gradually complete and commission the 1 GW of YEKA-2 onshore wind projects in Turkiye by the first quarter of 2026.
In an update on Enerjisa Uretim’s wind developments, Sabanci said that supply contracts have been signed for 75% of the projects, while the remaining part has entered the order stage. The 25.2-MW Akkoy wind farm, the first as part of the 250-MW Aydin region YEKA-2 projects, has been commissioned and construction has started on 185 MW of projects, according to the statement.
YEKA-2, awarded in 2019 under Turkiye’s YEKA tender programme, includes four 250-MW wind complexes to be built in Canakkale, Balikesir, Aydin and Mugla. In 2022, German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon and Enerjisa Uretim decided to carry out the YEKA-2 projects together.
Sabanci also said on Monday that Enerjisa Uretim has acquired the 18.9-MW Cesme and 7.2-MW Dikili wind parks that have expansion rights for 3.6 MW and 19.2 MW, respectively. In addition, the capacity of the Erciyes has been increased by 13.6 MW across four turbines to 93.6 MW, including 78.6 MW of wind and 15 MW of solar.
The company has further obtained preliminary licences for three storage projects combining 500 MW of wind energy and 500 MWh of battery storage capacity.
Enerjisa Uretim has as a result ended 2023 with 3,792 MW of installed capacity. By 2026, it aims to reach 5,000 MW and a renewables share of 60%.
