The target of the Turkish automotive industry is to increase its share in the USA market

Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB) participated in the AAPEX 2021-Automotive Aftermarket Fair, the largest automotive supplier industry fair in the USA.

According to the statement made by Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association, OIB, which has been trying to increase exports in existing and alternative markets with organizations such as online fairs and digital sectoral trade delegations since last year due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, accelerated its activities in this area with the start of physical activities.

In this context, OIB, which organizes the national participation in the AAPEX 2021-Automotive Aftermarket Fair, aims to get the Turkish automotive industry a larger share from the American market, which imports the automotive supply industry worth $100 billion.

At the fair, which was held in Las Vegas and attended by 14 Turkish companies operating in the automotive supplier industry, representatives of the automotive industry from many different countries of the world had the opportunity to come together and exchange views on the latest situation in the markets.

“WE NEED TO INCREASE OUR SHARE FROM THE TARGET MARKET USA”

Welcoming the guests at the OIB Info Stand at the fair, OIB Deputy Chairman of the Board Orhan Sabuncu made an evaluation about the organization.

Stating that they are working to increase the share in the automotive industry from the USA, the world’s largest importer, Sabuncu continued as follows:

“The USA, one of the world’s largest motor vehicle manufacturers with 11 million units before the pandemic, is among the world’s largest automotive production centers and importers. While the country’s automotive imports amounted to $254 billion in 2020, the supply industry imports in the 8708 chapter alone amounted to $60 billion. Along with other products, the country’s supply industry imports are estimated to reach $100 billion. We need to work much harder to increase our share from such a large country, which is our target market.”

Sabuncu pointed out that AAPEX 2021 is an important organization in this sense.

Informing that Turkey’s automotive exports to the USA have been on average $1 billion for 3 years, Sabuncu said, “The USA is among the top 10 countries to which the automotive industry exports the most. Our supply industry exports to the USA also reached $539 million in 2020. It seems possible to get a bigger share from the supply industry imports of the USA, which has reached $100 billion, with studies to be carried out, especially in such fairs.”
