There will be a “November craze” in e-commerce in Turkiye

ETID President Cevikoglu said, “Shopping rates on e-commerce sites will increase due to Singles’ Day on November 11, Teachers’ Day and Shopping Friday on November 24, and Cyber Monday on November 30.”

Hakan Cevikoglu, President of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETID), said in his statement to the AA correspondent that this year, unlike previous years, the discount concept, which was tried to be fit into a single day, will be spread over a month.

Stating that there will be a “November craze” in electronic commerce in Turkiye, Cevikoglu said, “Shopping rates on e-commerce sites will increase due to Singles’ Day on 11 November, Teachers’ Day and Shopping Friday on 24 November, and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Thus, after the discounts, it is estimated that ₺300-400 billion of shopping will be done in Turkiye in November.”

E-commerce days will be spread throughout November

Stating that e-commerce days will be spread throughout November in order to reduce the burden on logistics infrastructures and avoid consumer complaints and delays, Cevikoglu explained that consumers will be able to catch the best deals with special discounts at certain hours.

Cevikoglu said, “This year, a total volume increase of over 110% is expected compared to last year’s campaign period. The total expected campaign volume in Turkiye is over ₺300-400 billion. The e-commerce sector will close the year with approximately ₺1.3 trillion. “

Pointing out that e-commerce sites will organize different discount campaigns, Cevikoglu explained that hourly discounts as well as basket discounts are planned in many different categories, from technology to fashion, from mother/baby products to supermarkets, from home decoration to construction markets.

Be careful about scammers

Cevikoglu, who also warned consumers against fraudsters, reported that spam and phishing practices increased during the most ideal times for shopping.

Cevikoglu pointed out that when a good offer or discount is received via e-mail, the embedded link should be examined, and sometimes the visible link may be different from the directed address, and said:

“If you encounter such a situation, access the offer page directly through the official website. Shop only through official marketplaces and pay attention to web addresses if you are redirected to different landing pages. If the address is different from the official address of the seller, check whether the offer on the site you are redirected to is real or not by searching on the official web page.”

“The trust stamp of the sites should be checked”

Cevikoglu warned that the SSL certificate should be checked for the sites where shopping will be done, and said that the certificate in question is an important indicator for safe shopping.

Cevikoglu also stated that it should be checked whether the website from which the shopping will be made has the trust mark created by the Ministry of Commerce and given to reliable e-commerce sites.
