Kocaeli became the leader in automotive exports with $565 million 418 thousand

The province with the highest export in the automotive industry last month was Kocaeli with $565 million 418 thousand.

According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the automotive industry, which has been the leading sector of Turkiye’s exports for 16 consecutive years, reached $2 billion 51 million in July, an increase of 3.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The share of the industry, which ranks second in Turkiye’s exports, from the country’s exports was recorded as 11.1%.

Kocaeli automotive industry exported $565 million 418 thousand last month. Istanbul was recorded as the second province with $544 million 119 thousand and Bursa as the third province with $336 million 517 thousand.

Sakarya, one of the most important cities of the automotive industry, ranks fourth in the list with exports of $223 million 526 thousand, while Ankara is the fifth province with the highest export volume with $85 million 354 thousand.

Compared to July 2021, Kocaeli’s automotive exports increased by 7.1%, Istanbul’s exports by 1.7% and Bursa’s by 31.5%, while Sakarya’s exports decreased by 29.7% and Ankara’s exports decreased by 5.1%.

The UK is in the first place

The largest market in the exports of the Turkish automotive industry was the United Kingdom. Automotive exports from Turkiye to the United Kingdom amounted to $321 million 8 thousand in July.

The United Kingdom was followed by Germany with $293 million 925 thousand, Italy with $152 million 482 thousand and France with $148 million 861 thousand in the ranking of the countries with the highest automotive exports.

Turkiye’s automotive exports to the USA amounted to $107 million 909 thousand, to the Russian Federation $49 million 532 thousand and to Ukraine $13 million 338 thousand.

In July, automotive exports to Russia decreased by 8%, to Ukraine by 31% and to France by 3.5% compared to the same month of the previous year. Exports to Germany increased by 7.8%, to the United Kingdom by 37.6%, to Italy by 16.4% and to the USA by 36.4%.
