In the Turkish automotive industry, a new record was broken in 2023 with $2 billion 151 million in tow truck exports, where 2021 and 2022 were closed with a record.
According to the compilation of data from the Automotive Industry Exporters Association, the automotive industry, which completed 2022 with exports of $30 billion 995 million 808 thousand, broke an all-time record with exports of $35 billion 4 million 230 thousand, an increase of 13% last year.
Exports of tow trucks, which is the sub-product group of the automotive industry, increased by 22.15% last year compared to 2022, rising from $1 billion 761 million to $2 billion 151 million 74 thousand.
This export amount reached by the sector in tow trucks last year became the highest export amount on an annual basis in the history of the Republic, following the record achieved in 2022.
Tow truck exports increased by 68% in 2021 compared to 2020 and were recorded as $1 billion 28 million 981 thousand.
Exports to France, which ranks first, increased by 65.8%
Last year, tow truck trailers were exported to 67 countries, free zones and autonomous regions.
Industry representatives said that last year, the most exports were made to France. Exports to this country increased by 65.8% compared to 2022, rising from $211 million 119 thousand to $350 million 56 thousand.
Last year, tow truck trailer exports to Germany increased by 16.89% compared to 2022, reaching $327 million 15 thousand from $279 million 743 thousand.
Exports to Poland, which ranks third, increased by 12.66%, rising from $221 million 717 thousand to $249 million 807 thousand.
During this period, tow truck trailer exports to Spain, which ranked fourth, increased by 30.87% to $214 million 61 thousand, and exports to Italy, which ranked fifth, increased by 27.84% to $193 million 838 thousand.
62% of tow truck trailer exports were made to 5 countries
Exports to France, Germany, Poland, Spain and Italy constituted 62% of total tow truck exports.
In tow truck trailer exports, Belgium ranked sixth with $190 million 318 thousand, the United Kingdom ranked seventh with $86 million 421 thousand, Slovenia ranked eighth with $72 million 585 thousand, the Netherlands ranked ninth with $72 million 513 thousand, and Portugal ranked tenth with $57 million 728 thousand.
Last year, tow truck were exported to Colombia, the USA, the Marshall Islands, Gabon, Uzbekistan and Ivory Coast, where no exports were made in 2022.
