Karaismailoglu: With Kanal Istanbul, our middle corridor target will become stronger

Adil Karaismailoglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, said, “With the Filyos Port, which we opened, and the Rize Iyidere Logistics Port, where work continues, Turkey will turn into a new, global logistics base with the middle corridor we will create on the east-west and north-south axis. Together with Kanal Istanbul, our goal of the middle corridor will become stronger.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu came to the city to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mardin-Midyat road and to make some examinations. Karaismailoglu, AK Party Mardin deputies Cengiz Demirkaya and Seyhmus Dincel, Izmir Deputy Ceyda Bolunmez Cankiri, Istanbul Deputy Rumeysa Kadak, AK Party MYK Member Orhan Miroglu, along with General Manager of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloglu, visited Mardin Governor Mahmut Demirtas in his office. Minister Karaismailoglu received information from Governor Demirtas about the current situation of the province in transportation, the investments carried out and the planned projects. After the governorship visit, Minister Karaismailoglu, who went to the AK Party provincial building with his entourage, made statements.

Minister Karaismailoglu stated that they laid the foundation of important investments in the field of transportation and communication all over Turkey and said:

“Seeing the progress made by our country as a result of the investments made by our Ministry during the AK Party governments makes us happy and encourages us to do more. With the authority given to us by our nation, we are making the progress we have made in highways and airlines, also in railways and seaways, in order to make Turkey one of the world’s leading logistics powers. With Filyos Port, which we opened, and Rize Iyidere Logistics Port, where work continues, Turkey will turn into a new, global logistics base with the middle corridor we will create in the east-west and north-south axis. With Kanal Istanbul, our goal of the middle corridor will become stronger. The sine qua non of these steps we have taken with a global vision is the realization of our holistic development, which I have just mentioned, with the investments we have made in each province. Both the region and our country are important in every investment we have made or plan to realize in Mardin.”

‘UNTIL 2003, MARDIN DID NOT GET THE SERVICE THAT IT DESERVE’

Stating that Mardin has made great progress in the last 19 years, Minister Karaismailoglu said, “They call Mardin ‘the city where time stands still’ because of its historical assets. It is true. However, we also understand that time is not the only thing that stops before the AK Party. Until the AK Party governments came to power, not a single nail was hammered in the name of investment. Under the leadership of our Honorable President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, we have been concerned about making Mardin flourish and carrying it into the future, just like all of Turkey. In the last 19 years, Mardin has come a long way. Mardin is very important to us.”

‘TODAY WE HAVE NEVER STOPED FOR MARDIN’

Pointing out that they connected Mardin to Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Batman and Sirnak by divided roads, Karaismailoglu talked about the investments made in the city. Minister said, “We are starting the construction of the Mardin-Midyat road. By raising the physical and geometric standards, we will establish a much safer and more comfortable transportation opportunity between Mardin and Midyat. We will provide an uninterrupted and faster traffic flow. With the completion of the project, we will save ₺33.7 million annually, ₺23.7 million from time and ₺10 million from fuel. We are strengthening not only the highways of Mardin, but also the transportation networks in all other modes. We enlarged the runway and terminal building of Mardin Airport. We increased the number of passengers, which was 19 thousand in 2003, to 398 thousand in 2020. We have a promise made to Mardin. We set out on the road saying, “Our greatest joy is the happiness of our citizens.” For the future of Mardin and its districts, there is no fatigue for us in the services we do or will do. We have never stopped for Mardin, and we will not stop hereafter.”

‘WE DO A SERVICE POLICY’

Emphasizing that they have a service policy for the development of cities, Minister Karaismailoglu concluded his words as follows:

“We are doing politics for service so that our cities can develop, our country can develop, and our citizens can look to the future with confidence. However, if you do not do politics for the nation, if you think about your own interests, not the future of your country or your nation, you cannot achieve the success of the AK Party. He who does not burn with the love of serving his country, who does not worry about the problems of the nation, cannot walk on this road. I know that the basis of our party is our friends and brothers who work for service, namely you. We have great duties to build Turkey’s bright future. Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, we must always keep alive the atmosphere of unity, solidarity and peace in all segments of society. We must protect what our country has achieved so far and the position our country has risen in the most accurate and effective way, show it to the eyes that cannot see, and announce to the ears that do not hear.”
