Istanbul reached a share of 47.2% in the export of industrial products

Companies from Istanbul realized 47.2% of the industrial sector exports alone last month.

Playing the locomotive role in Turkiye’s exports, Istanbul also has an important share in the export of industrial products. Industrial companies deliver their products from Istanbul, which has an important position in global trade, to all over the world.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the export sales of companies from Istanbul increased by 12% last month compared to the same period of 2021 and reached $8 billion 396 million.

While the industrial sector achieved exports worth $15 billion 324 million in August, companies from Istanbul made $7 billion 237 million of the said export.

The share of companies from Istanbul, which realized 44.5% of industrial sector exports in July, reached 47.2% last month. Companies from Istanbul signed 45.8% of the industrial sector exports in August 2021.

The city’s industrial exports increased by 9.7% in August compared to the same period last year.

Last month, exports of chemicals and products were $1 billion 528 million, ready-made clothing and apparel $1 billion 269 million, and the steel industry $923 million 513 thousand, electrical and electronics industry $623 million 601 thousand, ferrous and non-ferrous metals $615 million 840 thousand, automotive industry $506 million 724 thousand, jewelry industry $417 million 484 thousand, textiles and raw materials $368 million 767 thousand, machinery and parts $275 million 185 thousand, cement, glass, ceramics and earthenware $231 million 234 thousand, air conditioning industry $226 million 955 thousand, leather and leather products exported $138 million 114 thousand, ship yachts and services $57 million 378 thousand, the carpet industry $47 million 133 thousand and other industrial products $7 million 760 thousand.

14 provinces exceeded $100 million in industrial exports

After Istanbul, the province with the highest industrial exports in August was Kocaeli with $1 billion 398 million.

While Bursa ranked third with $1 billion 268 million, Izmir realized $839 million 996 thousand of industrial exports, Ankara $658 million 511 thousand and Gaziantep $531 million 399 thousand, Manisa $356 million 51 thousand, Denizli $332 million 735 thousand, Sakarya $268 million 742 thousand and Hatay $225 million 670 thousand of industrial exports.

In the said period, $224 million 58 thousand of export from Konya were made, $195 million 589 thousand from Kayseri, $187 million 234 thousand from Adana, $136 million 124 thousand from Tekirdag and $110 million 753 thousand from Kahramanmaras.

Thus, over $100 million in exports of industrial products was achieved in 14 provinces of Turkiye last month.

Istanbul’s exports to Germany exceeded $650 million in August

Realizing 47.2% of Turkiye’s industrial exports last month, Istanbul was exported to 212 points of the world.

When looking at the countries to which Istanbul exports the most, Germany and the USA took place at the top.

The biggest export from Istanbul was to Germany with $658 million 163 thousand.

Germany was followed by the USA with $553 million 738 thousand, the United Kingdom with $462 million 492 thousand, Italy with $339 million 228 thousandand Spain with $312 million 987 thousand.
