AJet will start flights in March 2024

AnadoluJet, the brand of Turkish Airlines (THY), which was established in 2008 to meet Anatolia’s air transportation needs with advantageous options, will carry out its operations under the name of “AJet Air Transportation Joint Stock Company” as a wholly owned subsidiary of THY as of the end of March 2024.

An event was held at the Turkish Teknik Hangar at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to promote AJet.

Speaking here, THY Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Ahmet Bolat, said that AJet is one of the best examples of the company’s growth in the last twenty years and its transformation into one of the most important actors of global aviation.

Stating that THY started its transformation with a new understanding and global vision in 2003, Bolat said, “Turkish Airlines managed to break the perception of a boutique airline in a short time and achieve a revolution in both fleet size, flight network and service quality. The fact that we have become the airline that flies to the most countries in the world in just 10 years and have been deemed worthy of numerous awards such as ‘Europe’s Best Airline’ by the most respected rating organizations reveals the correctness of our path and strategy.”

Bolat pointed out that Turkish aviation, which is rapidly developing with the vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his support for civil aviation, has two world brands such as THY, which is among the top 10 most valuable airlines in the world, and Istanbul Airport, one of the busiest airports in Europe.

“AJet’s 2033 goals include increasing its flight network to 44 countries.”

Stating that the breakthrough made by Turkish aviation has taken its place both globally and locally, Bolat reminded that AnadoluJet, which was established in 2008 as a brand of THY, served its passengers during this period.

Bolat emphasized that AnadoluJet’s achievement of its 30% growth target this year, its 41% growth in domestic lines alone and its carrying of over 20 million passengers are the biggest signs that this vision has come true, and continued:

“AJet aims to grow by 12% and carry 24 million passengers in 2024, and 55 million passengers in 2033. I am sure that the AJet brand will achieve even greater success than these numbers. Today, AnadoluJet, which flies to 41 domestic destinations and 48 international destinations in 29 countries with its fleet of 90 aircraft, continued to raise its standards and become a global player together with Turkish Airlines’ experienced cabin and cockpit team. With its new name, new logo and new staff, AJet will initially continue its operations with 3 thousand employees. AJet’s 2033 goals, which I believe will go far beyond its goals with planning and dedicated work in a short time, include increasing its flight network to 44 countries and reaching a fleet of 200 aircraft consisting of new generation aircraft that are environmentally friendly and have low carbon emissions. I have full faith that AJet, which is a candidate to grow on a global scale with its new name, will be an important part of the industry’s low-cost aviation approach.”

Hoping that their new brand, AJet, will be beneficial to all of Turkiye and its passengers, Bolat wished success to all AJet managers and employees, especially AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp.

At the end of the speeches, a short film showing the painting of the AJet aircraft was shown. Bolat presented AJet’s model plane to Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, who attended the event.

Later, Uraloglu, Bolat and their entourage toured the plane in the hangar.

The event was attended by State Airports Authority (DHMI) General Manager Huseyin Keskin, Civil Aviation General Manager Kemal Yuksek, Istanbul Governor Davut Gul, Istanbul Police Chief Zafer Aktas, THY and AJet managers, employees and many guests.

AJet will enable a wider audience to benefit from air transportation services

The company, which was established with the aim of becoming a low-cost airline at global standards and strengthening its competitive position in the market, will continue its operations based in Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport and Ankara Esenboga Airport as of the end of March 2024.

The company plans to operate in an environmentally friendly manner in line with its sustainability vision, while entering the “Low Cost” market with an innovative perspective, it will enable a wider audience to benefit from air transportation services by reflecting the cost advantage to be gained by simplifying the service offered and economy class configuration to the ticket prices.
