Turkey is the first in the world in the export of ‘Sea bass’

Samsun Sinop Fisheries Breeders Producer Union President Osman Parlak said that Turkey is the world’s first in sea bass export and second in the world in trout and sea bream exports.

He said that Turkey has made a great progress in aquaculture in recent years, and that they sell sea bass, which is the world’s first in export, mostly to the Netherlands and then to the United Arab Emirates. Stating that they sell sea bream mostly to Italy, then to Greece and the Netherlands, Osman Parlak said, “We are a country with seas on three sides and we are taking great steps towards becoming a fishing country. After these three types of fish, salmon is the fish that shines the most recently. We export salmon fish to 15 countries, mainly Japan and Greece. Our biggest goal in 2023 is to be one of the top 3 salmon exporting countries. We are also making the investments to achieve this.”

Osman Parlak stated that sea bass, trout, sea bream and salmon are a storehouse of vitamins and that these fish should be consumed at least 2 times per week. Osman Parlak said, “The most important feature of these fish is that they contain all the vitamins that are good for joints and bones. We are among the best countries in the world in terms of export, but we are not that good in consumption. Especially our children in the developmental age must consume more than that.”
