Housing sales in Turkey increased by 20% in February

Housing sales increased by 20.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 97 thousand 587. In the same period, house sales to foreigners increased by 54.9% and amounted to 4 thousand 591.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the house sales statistics for February 2022. Accordingly, house sales across Turkey increased by 20.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 97 thousand 587. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 18,752 house sales and 19.2%. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 8 thousand 464 house sales and 8.7% share, and Izmir with 5 thousand 575 sales and 5.7% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 23 houses, Hakkari with 40 houses and Bayburt with 47 houses, respectively.

HOUSING SALES INCREASED BY 22.5% IN JANUARY-FEBRUARY PERIOD

Housing sales in the January-February period increased by 22.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 185 thousand 893.

SALES OF MORTGAGED HOUSES WAS 19 THOUSAND 888

Mortgaged house sales across Turkey increased by 35.6% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 19,888. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 20.4%. Mortgaged house sales in the January-February period, on the other hand, increased by 49.9% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 38 thousand 71.

77 THOUSAND 699 HOUSES HAVE CHANGED OWNERS

Other house sales in Turkey increased by 16.7% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 77 thousand 699. The share of other sales in total house sales was 79.6%. Other house sales in the January-February period, on the other hand, increased by 16.9% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 147 thousand 822.

NUMBER OF SALES OF THE FIRST HAND HOUSING WAS REALIZED AS 28,897

The number of first-hand house sales in Turkey increased by 16.8% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 28 thousand 897. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 29.6%. In the January-February period, first-hand house sales increased by 19.3% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 56 thousand 100.

68,690 HOUSING HAS CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND-HAND HOUSING SALES

Second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 21.6% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 68 thousand 690. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 70.4%. Second-hand house sales in the January-February period increased by 23.8% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 129 thousand 793.

4,591 HOUSING SALES TO FOREIGNERS IN FEBRUARY

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 54.9% in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 4 thousand 591. In February, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.7%. Istanbul took the first place in house sales to foreigners with 1,958 house sales. Antalya was followed by Antalya with 1,999 sales, and Ankara with 288 sales, respectively.

BY NATIONALITY, MOST HOUSING SALES WERE MADE TO IRAN CITIZENS

In February, Iranian citizens bought 711 houses from Turkey. The citizens of Iran were followed by the citizens of Iraq with 633 residences and the citizens of the Russian Federation with 509 residences, respectively.
