Google’s Socio-Economic Value Report: Google’s Turkiye ad size is ₺193 Billion

Google Turkiye’s “Google Ecosystem Socio-Economic Value Report”, which examines its contributions to the Turkish economy, was presented in Istanbul. According to the report, the economic value created by Google with four basic product and service categories in 2021 reached ₺476 billion and reached 6.6% of GDP. The advertising volume of the search engine in Turkiye in 2021 reached ₺193 billion. The company wants to increase this figure to ₺422 Billion in 4 years.

In the presentation, it was also noted that “Google Maps users save ₺39 billion of fuel and time. In addition, it was stated that Google’s advertising products reached ₺193 billion in 2021, and it expects this to increase to ₺422 billion by 2025.

Announcing a 2021 revenue of ₺62 billion in the Maps and Business profile category, the company shared a revenue of ₺210 billion for 2021 on the basis of Android and Play Store. The company targets ₺535 billion in this field by 2025.

The internet giant, which reached ₺12 billion in 2021 through its cloud and other products for the corporate field, also conveyed its support for 1.9 million employment in the same year. Stating that they have increased consumer welfare by ₺21 billion with search, Google also stated that people have saved 2.3 billion hours in Turkiye with “Search”. Stating that approximately 36 million people use Google Maps in Turkiye, the company also shared that they contributed 3.3 times more to the Turkish economy in 2021 compared to 2018.

Google Turkiye Country Director Mehmet Keteloglu made the following statements regarding the report: “The socio-economic value created by the ecosystem supported by Google’s products and services in Turkiye has now spread to many sectors. One of the most exciting results of the report is that the Google My Business Profile, which we offer businesses, will contribute to the additional revenue growth of more than 700,000 micro and small businesses in 2021.”

According to the information given by Keletoglu, the economic activities created in 2021 according to the results of the report created 1.9 million jobs. Keletoglu evaluated this situation as follows:

“This figure also corresponds to 6% of Turkiye’s employment in 2021. While micro and small enterprises undertake 58% of the supported employment, women employees constitute 30% of this rate. This is one of the important indicators of the equality of opportunity we create with the products and services we offer. The fact that the Google ecosystem provides added value by providing equal opportunities to individuals and businesses, as well as creating employment opportunities in many different fields, is a proud result for both our country and for us as Google.”

The contribution of the Google ecosystem to the country’s economy also differs depending on Google products and services. While the contribution of Google advertising products reached ₺193 billion according to 2021 data, it is expected to reach ₺422 billion in 2025. While the economic impact of Google Maps and Google Business Profile reached ₺62 billion, this figure is expected to reach ₺136 billion in 2025. In the field of Google Cloud and Workspace, the impact of ₺12 billion in 2021 is expected to increase to ₺33 billion in 2025, while the economic impact of the Android and Google Play ecosystem has reached ₺210 billion and it is predicted that it will be ₺535 billion in 2025.

Google Search, which is used by more than 50 million people in Turkiye, receives an average of 5 questions a day. In 2021, the annual time savings of Google Search users in Turkiye reached 2.3 billion hours, and an increase of ₺21 billion in consumer welfare was achieved with the free use of the Search product.

According to the Akademetre business survey in the report, approximately 1.7 million out of 3.4 million businesses actively use Google Maps.

1 out of every 4 companies in Turkiye uses company promotion products from Google services that can work integrated with Google Maps.

The most preferred application among company promotional products is Google Business Profile with 94%. Approximately 900 thousand businesses in Turkiye benefit from the Google Business Profile.

More than 700 thousand micro and small businesses achieved additional revenue growth with the use of Business Profiles.
