President of Italian Chamber of Commerce: Turkish companies invest more in Italy

Livio Manzini, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association, said, “The trade volume between Turkiye and Italy was more than $26 billion last year, which is a historical record.”

Livio Manzini, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association, said, “Turkish companies are investing more and more in Italy. Italian companies have been investing in Turkiye for a long time.”

Speaking to the AA correspondent, Manzini said that what they are trying to do as the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is not just trade, but also investment is needed to deepen the relations between the two countries.

Manzini said, “Our task is to increase the volume of investment between the two countries. This makes the ties between the two countries tighter. It is important when buying and selling, but when you create investment, production and employment, the relations come to a different point.”

“The trade volume between Turkiye and Italy is more than $26 billion last year, and this figure is a historical record. It has never been this high,” Manzini continued his words as follows:

“Likewise, 2021 was a record. That record was broken in 2022, and Turkiye ranks second among European Union (EU) countries in terms of trade volume after Germany. Trade between Italy and Turkiye is a fairly balanced trade. This shows how interconnected and integrated the economies of the two countries are.

Some sectors come to the fore, but no sector is dominant. Automotive, machinery and chemistry are important sectors, but since the trade between Turkiye and Italy is multi-sectoral, it does not need any sector. This indicates a much stronger relationship over time.”
