The amount of cow’s milk collected in Turkiye increased by 2.4%

The amount of cow’s milk collected throughout Turkiye increased by 2.4% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 879 thousand 602 tons.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the milk and dairy products production data for April.

In the statement, it was stated that due to the inability to obtain reliable data and information from the regions affected by the Kahramanmaras-centered earthquakes, some temporary applications were made in the production of the said statistics.

According to the bulletin, the amount of collected cow’s milk increased by 2.4% on an annual basis in April, reaching 879 thousand 602 tons.

The amount of collected cow’s milk increased by 3.5% in the January-April period compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 3 million 458 thousand 813 tons.

Drinking milk production by commercial dairy enterprises increased by 0.7% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 122 thousand 660 tons. In the January-April period, drinking milk production increased by 8.2% on an annual basis and reached 539 thousand 368 tons.

Yogurt production decreased by 7.1%

Yoghurt production by commercial dairy enterprises decreased by 7.1% in April compared to the same month of the previous year, and decreased to 88 thousand 611 tons, and decreased by 0.1% to 361 thousand 89 tons in the January-April period.

Cow cheese production increased by 2% annually in April to 61 thousand 755 tons, and in the January-April period increased by 6.2% to 250 thousand 650 tons.

Butter production decreased to 7 thousand 873 tons

In April, ayran production increased by 19.6% to 65 thousand 243 tons, while butter production decreased by 16.5% to 7 thousand 873 tons.

In the January-April period, buttermilk production increased by 5.6% to 240 thousand 421 tons, while butter production decreased by 23.4% to 30 thousand 864 tons.

The amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairy enterprises, which was 911 thousand 760 tons in March, decreased by 3.5% in April to 879 thousand 602 tons.

Drinking milk production, which was 138 thousand 678 tons in the same period, decreased by 11.6% to 122 thousand 660 tons.
