Turkiye: National Combat Aircraft to be developed with Azerbaijan

A protocol was signed with Azerbaijan to determine the working procedures and principles of cooperation in production, including the development activities of the 5th generation National Combat Aircraft KAAN, which is being developed for the Turkish Air Force.

The National Combat Aircraft Development Cooperation Signing Ceremony between the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan and TAI was held at the 16th International Defense Industry Fair IDEF, witnessed by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB).

With the protocol, it is aimed to determine the working procedures and principles of cooperation with Azerbaijan on joint production issues, including the development activities of the 5th generation National Combat Aircraft KAAN, which is being developed for the Turkish Air Force.

The protocol also aims to identify and evaluate the capabilities established in Azerbaijan, to make production preparations at the facilities and/or companies that are appropriately evaluated, to develop production capabilities and to share experience within the scope of the KAAN Project.

After mutual visits and meetings of the working groups, some subsystems are planned to be produced in Azerbaijan within the scope of the KAAN Project.

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Defense Industry President Haluk Gorgun stated that cooperation with Azerbaijan continues to increase and emphasized that the two countries have made many agreements in the field of defense together.
