Wise has released an official statement despite the allegations that it will withdraw from Turkiye

Despite some recent posts on social media, money transfer company Wise stated that these claims were not true and issued an official press release.

“Dear member of the press,

We hereby present to your information the statement of United Payment, the company’s partner in Turkiye since 2017, regarding the news that “Wise has decided not to provide services in Turkiye”, “Sending money has been restricted to users in Turkiye!”, “Wise Stops Most of Its Services in Turkiye” on social media and some online channels on 22 June 2023.

“Global technology company Wise continues to work with the mission of enabling its users in Turkiye to receive international money transfer services in a cheaper, faster and easier way since 2017.

As of June 22, 2023, Wise only changed the way it works in the country due to the new regulations in Turkiye. Users will still be able to send and receive money through Wise after August 30. Only the account that is being traded cannot be a “multicurreny” account and the balance will not be kept as it will not have an account with Wise. Users will carry out the transfer process from their bank account via Wise, not from their Wise account. In case of a change in the regulation in the upcoming period, the re-opening of restricted services will be brought to the agenda.

In summary, Wise continues to provide transparent, affordable and fast international money transfer services to its users in Turkiye, just like the first day. With Wise, you can transfer money to more than 50 countries without any problems.”

We present the subject for your information,

Best Regards,

United Payment
