After the energy crisis, European tourists will spend the winter in Turkiye

Europeans, whose bills have increased more than 10 times and who have been called to “take a shower together” against the gas crisis, will flock to hotels in Turkiye to spend the winter. November bookings are already up 50%.

Europeans, who are preparing to spend the winter in the cold due to Russia shutting down the energy valves, have already started to make reservations from hotels in Turkiye to get through the winter.

Ferhan Ademhan, Member of the Board of the Anatolian Tourism Operators Association, said, “Normally, our facilities in holiday regions were closing 50% from September, 80% towards October, and completely in November.

But this year our facilities will operate at full capacity. We think that our tourist target this year will reach 40 million. So far, we have exceeded 26 million. That’s $35 billion in revenue.”

While Europe, which had energy problems due to the Russia-Ukraine war, was preparing to spend the winter in the cold, many Europeans turned their way to Turkiye for the solution of the problem.

$35 BILLION OF TOURISM REVENUE

Ferhan Ademhan, Member of the Board of the Anatolian Tourism Operators Association, stated that 40 million tourists are expected this year and said, “We have exceeded $26 million so far. This means an income of $35 billion. This is what flue-free industry means.”

Ademhan said that if the political conjuncture for the winter months and the developments in the world continue like this, they expect the hotels and apartments that are closed in the winter to reach a high level of occupancy. Adamhan said:

“At the moment, it is observed that Ukrainian and Russian tourists are in the majority in our country, they are extending their holidays and renting apartments. We expect a serious reservation from Europe due to natural gas shortages.

If the minister in Europe warns ‘take a shower together’ while speaking in the parliament, if they are just making this warning in these hot temperatures, I hope we are hopeful for our country.

There will be serious demand. Because at the moment in Europe, there are warnings in the press and parliament ‘take less shower, use less water and wipe yourself with a cloth’. In this case, we hope that the return to us will be positive due to our affordable prices in our coastal areas and the increase in foreign currency.”

EMPLOYMENT WILL INCREASE

Stating that the facilities in the holiday regions were closed by 50% as of September, 80% by October and completely in November, Ademhan said, “According to the demands, employment will of course increase. We think that the welfare of our citizens will increase further with the decrease in unemployment.”

Commenting on the rents of summer houses, Ademhan said, “Our citizens should not pay these places cheaply or very expensively. It needs to be given to incoming people in a balanced way, in an appropriate increment.

I think that if the visitors leave our country in a happy and peaceful way, the next visits will increase and there will be more demand because they will advertise more in the places they go.”
