Turkiye: Automotive became the locomotive of exports

The automotive industry was the sector that realized the most exports last month.

According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the automotive industry, which achieved an export of $3 billion 29 million 593 thousand last month, was followed by the chemical substances and products with $2 billion 453 million 37 thousand, and the ready-made clothing and apparel industry with $1 billion 656 million 510 thousand.

The highest increase in exports in May was recorded in the olive and olive oil sector with 374.5%.

In the industrial group, which realized 71.1% of Turkiye’s total exports last month, exports of $15 billion 400 million 562 thousandwere made with an increase of 9.6%.

In the aforementioned period, exports of $2 billion 899 million 403 thousand were achieved with an increase of 20.4% in the agricultural group, which made up 13.4% of the total exports, and $546 million 880 thousand were exported with an increase of 2.6% in the mining area, which received a 2.5 share from the total exports.

Most exports were to Germany

Gultepe stated that they exported to 219 countries and an increase was recorded in exports to 138 countries.

The top 3 exporting countries were Germany with $1 billion 599 million, the USA with $1 billion 108 million, and the United Kingdom with $977 million 729 thousand.

While 51 of our provinces increased their exports, the top 3 provinces with the highest exports were Istanbul with $8 billion 109 million, Kocaeli with $1 billion 437 million and Bursa with $1 billion 435 million.

In May, 1,524 companies exported for the first time. The unit export value, on the other hand, increased by 15.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached $1.53.

During this period, the parity effect provided an added value of $327 million.
