General card payments increased in November in Turkiye

The general card payment index increased in November; After the slight increase in October, the upward movement continued in the second month.

November data of the “Card Payments Index”, created by the Interbank Card Center (BKM) to monitor the card payments sector and household payments, has been published.

The real-based general card payment index, calculated based on total card payment turnover, increased by 2.8% last month, from 293.4 points to 301.6 points. The index increased by 33.6% compared to the same month last year. The payment index shows the mobility in payment amounts made with credit cards, debit cards or cards of prepaid card issuers operating in the country.

The general card payment index, which is calculated on a nominal basis, continued to increase. The index increased by 6.2% compared to the previous month and 116.5% compared to the same month last year and reached 2100.3 points.

HOUSEHOLD CARD PAYMENT INDEX ALSO INCREASED

The card payment index of domestic individuals, calculated by excluding BES, public and tax, reached 262.4 in real terms in November, with an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous month. The index increased by 35.3% compared to the same month last year.

In the same month, the household card payment index on a nominal basis increased by 3.9% monthly and 119.0% annually, reaching 1758.3 points.
