Turkish Exporters’ Assembly Carpet Sector Board Chairman Kaplan stated that Gaziantep, which is the strongest city in the sector in Turkey, is the city that produces half of the machine carpets that the world needs.
Kaplan explained that the carpet industry in Turkey eliminated the problems with alternative markets and closed the year 2020 with $2 billion 604 million 648 thousand of exports. So much so that 70% of the piece machine-made carpet trade is carried out by our country and 53% by the carpet makers from Gaziantep. “
“The target for 2021 is $3 billion”
Stating that the sector is hopeful for the future, Kaplan said:
“Turkish carpet manufacturers, who have achieved significant success in exports, are hopeful this year as well. Despite the pandemic last year, our industry, which continues its activities with determination and exports more than $2.6 billion, has set a target of $3 billion for 2021. Important steps have already been taken to achieve this goal. The first month of the year was good for us. I hope we will complete the year by seeing the numbers we targeted. “
