GAIB increased its exports by 86.1% reaching the figure of $1 billion 10 million

The Southeastern Anatolia Region is happy to increase its monthly exports to over $1 billion for the second time despite the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19).

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters Unions (GAIB), despite the effects of Covid-19 on the economy, the Southeastern Anatolia Region attracts attention with its success in exports. The member companies of GAIB, which is affiliated with Gaziantep, Malatya, Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa, Mardin, Kahramanmaras, Adiyaman and Kilis provinces, increased their foreign sales in April by 86.1% compared to the same month of the previous year and saw the figure of $1 billion 10 million.

Gaziantep made the highest contribution to this success with $883 million in the region, which reached over $1 billion for the second time with exports in April this year after $1 billion 27 million in exports in December 2020. The region, which transported the most products to the Middle East, European Union and American countries, respectively, in April, obtained the highest income from Iraq and as a sector from textiles, grains and pulses.

“THE CHART SHOWS THAT GOALS ARE NOT A DREAM”

GAIB Coordinator President Ahmet Fikret Kileci stated to the AA correspondent that he managed to increase the exports of the region in the epidemic. Explaining that they contributed to Southeast exporters with digital transformation and training, Kileci said:

“Our goal is to make the $1 billion export performance we achieved for the second time in April a habit in the following months. We know that our region has such a potential, the important thing is to realize this potential. In 2021, we set an export target of $12 billion for the Southeast and $10 billion for Gaziantep. The table that has been formed as of the first four months shows us that the goals we set are not a dream. In order to sustain the rise in exports, we must continue to produce quality, environmentally friendly and innovative products, and at the same time combine this production with a planned and world-class sales organization.”

Ahmet Fikret Kileci pointed out that the region is the center of the Silk Road, the most reliable, healthy and long trade route of the world, and added that export records can be seen in the future by improving the advantages.
