Flights are back to normal at Istanbul Airport

Flights at Istanbul Airport, where flights were temporarily suspended due to adverse weather conditions, returned to normal as of yesterday. In the statement made on the social media account of Istanbul Airport Operator IGA, it was stated that the flight operations, which were temporarily suspended due to adverse weather conditions, returned to normal as a result of the studies.

IGA made the airport ready for operations with the works it carried out with a total of 500 personnel and 180 snow removal vehicles on the apron, runway and taxiway. Snow removal works continued with vehicles on the apron and taxiways. After the planes were defrosted, they started their journey. In the statement, which noted that 681 aircraft were scheduled to land and take off at the airport yesterday, the statement said, “Our two runways are open and our third runway is expected to be operational during the day. Due to weather conditions, we have no passengers waiting at our terminal. Havaist flights operate regularly between the airport and the city center. We kindly ask our passengers to check their flights and come to our airport.”

EKSI MADE AN EXPLANATION

Turkish Airlines (THY) General Manager Bilal Eksi said in a statement on his social media account that flights at Istanbul Airport are gradually returning to normal. One of the passengers, Idris Ustun, stated that he is happy that the flights have started and that they can travel. Ustun said, “I had to go to Sirnak. I had my procedures done. Now I am going to my plane.”
