Turkiye and Somalia signed an agreemend and will cooperate in the field of oil and natural gas

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they signed an intergovernmental agreement and memorandum of understanding with Somalia Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Abdirizak Omar Mohamed to develop cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas.

Minister Bayraktar, in his post on social media platform X, said that he and his Somali counterpart Mohamed discussed improving bilateral cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas in Somalia’s onshore and offshore blocks.

In the post, Bayraktar said, “We signed an intergovernmental agreement and memorandum of understanding with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Somalia, Abdirizak Omar Mohamed, to develop bilateral cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas in Somalia’s onshore and offshore blocks. With this agreement, we will carry out joint activities to bring the resources of Somalia to the Somali people. We aim to strengthen Turkiye’s presence in the Horn of Africa with new collaborations in the field of energy.”
