Noting that the 1915 Canakkale Bridge and the 101-kilometer-long Malkara-Canakkale Highway are one of the giant projects that continue successfully, Karaismailoglu emphasized that when it is completed, it will go down in history as “the first bridge in the world to be designed and built as a twin deck over a 2,000-meter middle span”.

Karaismailoglu said, “Seyit Onbasi will be the ‘suspension bridge with the highest towers in the world’ with its tower height reaching 330 meters with bullet figures. Our bridge, which the Dardanelles will carry like a ruby necklace, will be one of the most beautiful and accurate works of the new Turkey, which carries the national independence flag and competes with the world.”

“TURKEY’S SECOND AIRPORT BUILT WITH SEA FILLING HAS ENDED”

Explaining that the stone filling work has been completed at Rize-Artvin Airport, which was carried out with a special construction technique on the sea fill, and the infrastructure and superstructure construction works have come to an end, Karaismailoglu continued as follows:

“The airport built in Pazar district, 34 kilometers from Rize, 54 kilometers from Hopa and 125 kilometers from Artvin, has the capacity to serve 3 million passengers a year. When it is completed, it will be Turkey’s second airport built with sea filling after Ordu-Giresun Airport. The project will contribute to the development of Rize and Artvin’s city center and districts with tourism potential, as well as to increase the commercial relations of the Eastern Black Sea region with neighboring countries. Thus, the development of air transportation in the Eastern Black Sea region will be ensured.”

Karaismailoglu shared the information that the works are continuing rapidly at Tokat Airport and Cukurova Airport.

“3 IMPORTANT LINES TO RELIEVE TRANSPORTATION IN ISTANBUL WILL BE OPENED THIS YEAR”

Underlining that as the Ministry, they attach importance to the metro lines that will ease transportation in Istanbul, Karaismailoglu said that they will open 3 important lines this year.

Expressing that the Basaksehir-Pine and Sakura City Hospital-Kayasehir Metro Line is 6.2 kilometers long, Karaismailoglu stated that this line has the capacity to carry 70,000 passengers per hour in one direction.

He noted that there are 7 stations on the 31.5-kilometer-long second stage Kucukcekmece (Halkali)-Basaksehir-Arnavutkoy-Istanbul Airport Metro Line.

Karaismailoglu drew attention to the fact that the 69-kilometer rail system project will be “Turkey’s fastest metro” with a speed of 120 kilometers, and made the following assessments:

“With the commissioning of the metro line, it will be possible to access the airport from Halkali in less than 30 minutes. With this fast system between Halkali-Airport and Gayrettepe, uninterrupted transportation will be provided between Gayrettepe and Halkali. Another metro line under construction is the Pendik-Tavsantepe-Sabiha Gokcen Metro Line. With an hourly capacity of 70,000 passengers in one direction of our 7.4-kilometer line, transportation between Sabiha Gokcen Airport and the city center will be provided quickly, economically and safely.”

“DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL RESOURCES USED IN EUROPE’S LONGEST ZIGANA TUNNEL”

Karaismailoglu also mentioned the Zigana Tunnel, one of the projects targeted to open this year, and emphasized that they saw the light in Zigana, the longest double tube road tunnel in Turkey and Europe, and the third longest in the world.

Pointing out that 100% domestic and national resources are used in the construction, design and control of the Zigana Tunnel and its connection roads, Karaismailoglu said that with the completion of the project, a total of ₺59 million will be saved annually, including ₺19 million from time and ₺40 million from fuel oil.
