Turkiye: Banking sector’s loan volume was ₺10 trillion 371 billion last week

The credit volume of the banking sector increased by ₺39 billion 754 million last week and reached ₺10 trillion 371 billion 488 million.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the loan volume of the sector increased by ₺39 billion 754 million as of August 11. In the said period, the total loan volume increased from ₺10 trillion 331 billion 735 million to ₺10 trillion 371 billion 488 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺255 billion 487 million last week. The total deposits of the banking sector, which increased by 2% in the aforementioned week, became ₺12 trillion 849 billion 201 million.

The amount of consumer loans increased to ₺1 trillion 421 billion

According to the data, the amount of consumer loans increased by ₺6 billion 751 million as of August 11 to ₺1 trillion 421 billion 734 million. Of these loans, ₺444 billion 954 million consisted of housing loans, ₺86 billion 833 million vehicle loans and ₺889 billion 946 million consumer loans.

In the said period, the amount of commercial loans with installments increased by ₺2 billion 761 million and reached ₺1 trillion 205 billion 868 million. Banks’ personal credit card receivables increased by 2.1% to ₺871 billion 990 million. ₺407 billion 390 million of individual credit card receivables were in installments, and ₺464 billion 600 million were without installments.

Legal equity increased

According to the BRSA weekly data, non-performing loans in the banking sector increased by ₺2 billion 30 million compared to the previous week and reached ₺172 billion 30 million as of August 11. A special provision has been set aside for ₺147 billion 814 million of the aforementioned non-performing loans.

In the same period, the legal equity of the banking system increased by ₺3 billion 51 million to ₺2 trillion 114 billion 616 million.
