Turkiye’s anchovy exports reached $12.2 million

Anchovy exports from Turkiye in the 11-month period of the year increased by 20% and reached $12 million 202 thousand 980.

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said that 2 thousand 479 tons of anchovies were exported from Turkiye in 11 months.

Stating that $12 million 202 thousand 980 of income was obtained from the foreign sales in question, Gurdogan stated that this figure increased by 20% compared to the same period of the previous year, when $10 million 129 thousand 431 of income was obtained.

Gurdogan emphasized that anchovy found buyers in 25 countries this period and said, “France, Belgium and Germany were the three countries with the most exports. During this period, anchovies worth $4 million 361 thousand 360 were sold to France, $3 million 745 thousand 655 to Belgium and $1 million 91 thousand 724 to Germany.”

Gurdogan noted that anchovies were exported to Uzbekistan, Iraq, Moldova, Malaysia and Somalia in this period, unlike the same period last year, and added that they expect exports to increase in the coming days with the abundance of anchovies due to the cooling of the weather.
